The final match of the All Valley Tournament shows the effects of Tory’s willingness to get help.
She even follows through on Amanda’s request for her to start going to counseling. Although Tory is offended and lashes out when Amanda initially offers help, she eventually goes to her for help getting back into school. Surprisingly, it’s Amanda LaRusso ( Courtney Henggeler) who is able to see past Tory’s aggression to the story underneath. Tory learned that mercy could become a weakness before John Kreese ( Martin Kove) ever got into her head. She keeps her guard up, keeps people at a distance, and tries to become too dangerous to mess with. As Tory has become the caretaker of her sick mother, others have tried to prey on her situation. One of the fiercest fighters on the show, she embodied the Cobra Kai mantra “Fear does not exist in this dojo!” before she ever stepped onto their mat. Tory Nichols ( Peyton List) has been a terror to Samantha LaRusso ( Mary Mouser) since their unfortunate first meeting. Cobra Kai's Season 4 continued to demonstrate that no one is beyond redemption with five particularly surprising character changes. Johnny and his rival, Daniel LaRusso ( Ralph Macchio), have grown significantly while using their hard-won wisdom to help others do the same. While it doesn’t excuse their behavior, it does help you offer kindness and provide space for change. Starting with the old Cobra Kai’s star fighter, Johnny Lawrence ( William Zabka), the show reminded you that there’s often more to the story when people are bitter and mean.

It reexamined a story told in stark black and white about good guys and bad guys and revealed more complexity. Creating a continuation of The Karate Kid and then naming it for the despised dojo that inflicted so much misery on the protagonist was a bold declaration about the show’s intentions. More than anything else, Cobra Kai is about redemption.
